For Jefferson Johnson first release in his new Male Chorus Series with National Music Pubishers, he selected Richard Burchard’s ”Tenebrae.” It makes a signifcant statement about the seriousness of what can be expected and is needed from good men’s choirs. The sacred text focuses on the crucifixion, but this is a concert work, displaying a treatment of ancient liturgy with beauty and emotion. Good high school and college male voice chiors – Medium.
