SUITE FOR BAND by Guy A. Kelpin is a highly imaginative and creative 5 movement work based on the characteristics of gods from Greek mythology: Ares, Pan, Hermes, Morpheus and Apollo. The piece is a survey of several methods of 20th century composition, including serialism, polytonality, use of church modes, mixed meters and a creative approach to instrumentation. These techniques (used as resources to capture images inspired by the gods) bring about Maestoso, Adagio misterioso, Tempo di Panic/Adagio, Vivace scherzando, Largo misterioso, and Vivace.
