Description
POLKA PAGEANT is arranged by Joel Blahník for Orchestra that may be performed with 2 vocalists with English or Czech texts. “Polka Pageant” is a medley of 5 well-known Czech polka melodies originally created for dancing and singing—an arrangement well-suited for outdoor performances or for folks who wish to dance. The original Bohemian polka tempo is slower than 2 beats per second (108). For the style to come out, play in a relaxed tempo, keeping a “tight grasp on the reins!” This edition incorporates elements of Czech humor with “sonic booms” from the Bass Drum (to be played in a delayed manner), minor “tick ling” dissonances, inversion of voicing, and trombone glissandos. Even though traditional in its “blue-print” form, musicians can enjoy the discovery of musical humor in its performance. Delightful! Symphony Orchestra with Vocal Duet (optional). Set of Score and Parts. Grade: 4 Duration: 4:30
